Phillip Dornbusch (born in 1994, Stadthagen) is a Berlin-based saxophonist and composer.
At the age of four he started his musical path on the piano, six years later he discovered the Saxophone.
After he finished school he studied the Jazz Saxophone at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with Jonas Schoen-Philbert, Lorenz Hargassner and Matthias Schubert.
In 2015 Phillip moved to Berlin to continue his studies at Jazzinstitut Berlin with Peter Weniger and Greg Cohen. 
Apart from that he had the chance to have lessons with Julia Hülsmann, Jörg Achim Keller, Marc Müllbauer, Gregoire Peters, Sebastian Gille, Chris Cheek and Uli Kempendorff.

After studying at the Royal Conservatory The Hague with John Ruocco for half a year, Phillip became a member of the federal youth bigband of Germany (Bujazzo) from 2018 to 2020 under the musical direction of Jiggs Wigham and Niels Klein. Also in 2018, he got awarded by the Jazzpreis Hannover and Münchner Jazzpreis as a member of the Fynn Großmann Quintet.
With his band Phillip Dornbuschs Projektor, Phillip has released his debut album "REFLEX“ in January 2021.
The Tenor player looks back at concert tours and festival performances both inside and outside of Europe, such as Elbjazz (GER), Jazz Baltica (GER), Rochester International Jazz Festival (USA) or Toronto Jazz Festival (CAN). Phillip got the chance play with with national and international renowned artists such as: Kurt Rosenwinkel, Django Bates, Wanja Slavin, Lucia Cadotsch, Uli Kempendorff, Randy Brecker, Niels Klein and many others.
